The black roller trap is an effective, safe way to control Tuta absoluta (tomato leaf miner) in greenhouses. The roll is a black sticky tape with a built-in pheromone that strongly attracts male moths, helping reduce their numbers and stop them breeding in the crop.
- Black was chosen because it is the most attractive color for this pest: it resembles the shadows and dark places where the insect looks for shelter, and its heat absorption helps activate the pheromone and boost attraction.
- This roll is designed to attract Tuta absoluta only and does not attract other insects such as whitefly or thrips, making it precise and safe for beneficial organisms.
- The roll is a key tool in Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs, helping with early detection and infestation control without large quantities of pesticides.
Key Features
- Attracts Tuta absoluta very efficiently thanks to the pheromone built into the sticky layer.
- Long-lasting effect reduces the need for frequent replacement.
- Black color increases attraction and prevents light reflection.
- Completely safe for people and plants and leaves no residue on fruit.
- Easy to install and use in greenhouses or open fields.
- Does not attract beneficial insects or other species.

Orkida Tip
- Start using the roll at the beginning of the season to detect the pest early and stop it spreading.
- Can be combined with pheromone traps and biological control within an IPM program.
- Store the roll in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to keep it effective as long as possible.
