How to use Optiguard cockroach gel:
- The gel is used to combat cockroaches by placing small drops of it in areas where cockroaches appear.
- It is recommended to add one to three drops of Optiguard gel per square meter, increasing the number of drops depending on the severity of the infestation and the type of cockroach being targeted. Each drop weighs approximately 0.5 grams.
Target pests:
- Cockroaches include German, American, Australian, Oriental, brown, smoked brown, and brown cockroaches.
How the active ingredient in Optigard® gel works
- Emamectin benzoate stimulates the release of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in the insect, an inhibitory neurotransmitter, leading to paralysis and death.
- Cockroaches are attracted to the highly palatable bait, which, when ingested, provides an insecticidal dose of emamectin benzoate. Cockroaches that feed on the bait will return to their nests where the active ingredient may be transferred to other cockroaches, including nymphs that are not actively foraging. Thus, a significantly larger number of cockroaches are controlled compared to those that initially fed on the bait.
