Planting Directions
- Sow basil seeds directly in the soil or in a nursery at a depth of 0–1 cm in light, well-drained soil. Seeds can be broadcast or sown in rows, and germinate within a short time depending on temperature. After 3–4 true leaves form, thin the seedlings to get strong plants. Space plants about 20 cm apart with 70 cm between rows for good air circulation and balanced growth.
Planting Season
- Temperate regions: from spring to early summer.
- Warm regions: can be sown most of the year, avoiding severe cold.
Harvest
- Harvest starts about 30–50 days after sowing; cut the growing tips or leaves as needed to encourage continuous growth and higher yield.
Orkida Tip
- For strongly flavored, high-quality basil leaves, water regularly without waterlogging and keep picking before flowering. In hot areas, a sunny spot with light shade at midday improves plant growth and leaf quality.
