Deciban 25 EC is an agricultural insecticide containing the active ingredient deltamethrin 2.5%, from the synthetic pyrethroid group known for its fast action on target insects. It works by contact and stomach action, affecting the insect nervous system and disrupting nerve signal transmission, which leads to loss of coordination, paralysis and death. It controls a range of crop pests – mainly aphids, caterpillars, thrips, whiteflies, beetles and leaf miners – according to the registered uses. It is suitable for vegetables, cereals, alfalfa and fruit trees, and helps limit feeding damage when applied at the right time with good coverage of infested parts.

Key Features

  • Deltamethrin acts quickly on the insect nervous system, causing loss of coordination and paralysis after exposure.
  • Contact and stomach action – controls insects that touch or feed on treated surfaces.
  • Fast action reduces insect activity and feeding, limiting further damage to leaves and new growth.
  • Effective against a range of chewing and sucking insects, including aphids, thrips and caterpillars, within the registered uses.
  • Targets active larvae and adult insects exposed to the spray, lowering pest numbers on the crop.
  • Provides direct insecticidal action on treated parts and is well suited to rapid control at the first sign of infestation.

Directions for Use

  • Wheat, barley and maize – aphids and caterpillars: 50–75 ml per hectare, sprayed with enough water to cover the foliage evenly.
  • Alfalfa – aphids and caterpillars: 65–100 ml per hectare; direct the spray onto infested leaves and shoots, timing the treatment in relation to cutting.
  • Peach, apricot, plum, stone fruits, apple and pear – aphids, caterpillars, whiteflies, scale insects, thrips and leaf miners: 0.10–0.15 ml per 1 L of water (10–15 ml per 100 L); spray new growth, leaves and infested parts, making sure the solution reaches where insects gather.
  • Tomato, pepper, eggplant, cucumber, zucchini, watermelon, melon and beans – aphids, caterpillars, whiteflies, beetles, weevils, thrips and leaf miners: 0.10–0.15 ml per 1 L of water (10–15 ml per 100 L); start spraying when infestation appears, covering both leaf surfaces and growing tips.
  • Note: cereal and alfalfa rates are given per hectare on the label and should not be converted to ml per liter without knowing the spray volume used per hectare.

Pre-Harvest Interval and Re-entry

  • Wheat, barley and maize: 7 days
  • Alfalfa: 7 days
  • Fruit trees: 7 days
  • Vegetables: 7 days
  • Re-entry interval to the treated area: 24 hours, following the registered protection instructions.

Precautions

  • Follow the registered rates; do not increase the concentration when infestation is heavy or repeat sprays without real need.
  • Deltamethrin is highly toxic to bees and aquatic organisms – do not spray while bees are active or on flowering plants they visit, and keep the product away from water sources.
  • Rotate with insecticides of different modes of action and avoid repeated reliance on pyrethroids to reduce the risk of resistance.
  • The product is non-systemic, so ensure good coverage of infested parts, especially the underside of leaves and dense growth.
  • Avoid spraying in strong wind or high temperatures, and prevent spray drift onto neighboring crops.
  • Wear suitable personal protective equipment while preparing and applying the spray, and observe the pre-harvest and re-entry intervals on the label.

Orkida Tip

  • When using Deciban against aphids, whiteflies or thrips, check the growing tips and leaf undersides first to locate where insects gather. Adjust nozzles and spray pressure so the solution reaches infested parts as even droplets without excess run-off, focusing on active larvae and insects exposed to the spray. For leaf miners, act early before larvae tunnel into the leaf tissue, because deltamethrin does not move systemically inside the plant. Good coverage and correct timing matter more than a higher concentration.
