  • Acochem 25% WP is a systemic insecticide formulated as a wettable powder (WP) containing imidacloprid 25%. It is used to control sucking insects and pests of field crops and ornamental plants. The active ingredient acts on the insect's nervous system, disrupting feeding and movement, and helps control whiteflies, thrips, aphids, mealybugs and some other pests. Imidacloprid moves within plant tissues and affects susceptible insects through feeding or contact. The active ingredient is also used in some public health insecticides for ants, cockroaches and bed bugs, with different formulations and use methods depending on the product. Acochem itself is used according to the agricultural uses registered on the product label.

Key Features:

  • Systemic action in the plant: The active ingredient moves through plant tissues to reach sap-feeding insects.
  • Controls sucking insects: Targets whiteflies, aphids, thrips and mealybugs according to registered uses.
  • Specific nervous system action: Disrupts nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in the insect's nervous system, stopping its activity.
  • Works by ingestion and contact: Affects susceptible insects that feed on treated tissue or are directly exposed to the spray.
  • Additional crop pests: Registered uses include leaf miners and Colorado potato beetle depending on the crop and pest.
  • Public health uses of the active ingredient: Imidacloprid is used in some ant, cockroach and bed bug insecticides designed and registered for these pests.

Pre-Harvest Interval:

  • Registered vegetable crops: 7 days before harvest.
  • Ornamental plants: No pre-harvest interval applies.

Precautions:

  • Toxic to bees; do not spray while bees are active or on flowering plants they visit.
  • Prevent the product and sprayer rinse water from reaching water sources and drainage channels.
  • Wear gloves, a mask and safety glasses during preparation and spraying, and avoid inhaling the powder dust.
  • Avoid spraying in very hot weather or in wind that may cause spray drift.
  • Test plant sensitivity before use on untested ornamental varieties.
  • Do not use IRAC 4A insecticides repeatedly in succession without rotating with other mode-of-action groups.
  • Do not use indoors or on furniture and upholstery unless approved instructions and registration exist for that use.
  • Store in the original tightly closed container away from children, food and animal feed.

Orkida Tip:

  • Before spraying, check the undersides of leaves and new growth to locate whitefly, aphid and thrips colonies, and adjust the sprayer nozzle for even coverage without excessive run-off. If infestations recur, do not rely on imidacloprid alone; rotate with an insecticide from a different mode-of-action group after identifying the pest and infestation level.
